Robin Watson-Bird, PLMC™ Certified Real Estate Agent
I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, the daughter of part time real estate investors. My parents bought properties, we fixed them up (we spent many nights and weekends working on properties preparing them for rent or sale), and they either held and rented or flipped them. In college, I studied Psychology and Music and joined the sorority Alpha Chi Omega at the University of the Pacific; received my B.A. in Psychology from California State University, Sacramento; and earned a Ph.D. in Psychological Studies in Education and a Ph.D. Minor in Psychology from Stanford University. While attending Stanford, I also studied the Law of Non-Profits, Program Evaluation and Grant Writing in addition to being a Lecturer in the Teacher Education Department, Child Development Division at San Jose State. I also earned a Certificate in Small Business Administration from College of Alameda. In late 2002, I came across an open house near our condo and wanted to take a look at it. My spouse hates looking at open houses and told me that I should get my real estate license so I can take people to look at houses who wanted to; so I started the process of getting my license and 7 months later I hung my license with my first broker in June of 2003. In May 2009, I got my Broker’s license and started my own company, W-B Properties. I really enjoyed being an independent broker, but after working with my friend’s small office and then my own, I missed the community of a larger real estate office and company, I decided I wanted to have more than just me to offer my clients and agents who worked with me, so I started interviewing franchises. Realty World stood head and shoulders above all the other franchises I interviewed. Their education and cutting edge, ever-changing and improving technology hooked me, so I purchased a Franchise and set up a boutique office in Livermore. With them, I now could do more for my clients and agents than brokers at other companies could. In December of 2009, I purchase my first Realty World Franchise and in May of 2010, I opened up the current Livermore office. A couple years later I purchased my second Realty World franchise which I now have based in Oakland. I have lived and/or worked in most of the 9 bay area counties and the outlying areas, I am knowledgeable about the real estate communities and markets in many. I pride myself on excellence, if I do not consider myself to be a great agent for a particular area, I will refer you to a wonderful agent who specializes in the area you are looking. Unlike most agents, I am happy to assist people regardless of their price point or level of real estate experience for purchases or home sales. I am more interested in working with good people who appreciate the level of knowledge, expertise, negotiation and marketing skills I bring to a real estate transaction. I am especially good at educating my clients throughout a transaction and doing the necessary target marketing needed whether it is to find a house for my client if what they are looking for is not currently on the market or to do the target marketing needed for unique and luxury market homes. Unlike the typical agent who simply relies on the MLS to find houses for their buyers and who put out their “help wanted” sign in the form of a listing on the MLS when they list a home for sale, I go way above and beyond that to find the right possible pool of buyers for a property and directly market to those people, online and offline. I don’t just wait for an agent who has a buyer to find my listing and hope they show it to their buyer. I also don’t just wait for a listing to pop up in the MLS for my buyers; my team goes out and finds properties if needed for our buyers. My marketing often entails marketing homes to out of area people who may or may not even be in the market for a house, who would be a good fit for a property I have to sell. Most agents would not even think to do that, let alone, know how to do that marketing. If you are looking to buy or sell residential real estate in the greater bay area, contact me to discuss your situation and see if we would make a good team to work on your real estate project together.
